A 4K television is one part of the picture. To display native 4K, the content source and the playback equipment must support it too. GOTVMIX describes quality as up to 4K where available; that does not mean every programme or stream is supplied in 4K.
Start with the source, not the TV badge
Ask whether the specific content you want is available in 4K. A television can upscale a lower-resolution image, but that does not make the source native 4K. If your player shows technical information, distinguish the source resolution from the TV’s output resolution. Neither number alone tells you how well a stream is compressed.
Check the full playback path
Look up the exact model of your TV, streaming device and player. When using an external device, check the manufacturer’s instructions for the HDMI port and output settings. A built-in TV app and a separate streaming stick can have different capabilities, even when connected to the same screen. Avoid buying replacement hardware before identifying the limitation.
Test the network where you actually watch
Ofcom advises checking whether other household devices are using the connection heavily and using Ethernet for a stationary device when possible. A wired comparison can help you investigate Wi-Fi as a cause of interruptions. Measure on the viewing device or close to it; a fast result beside the router does not describe every room.
Separate low resolution from buffering
A soft picture and repeated pauses are different symptoms. Record which one you see. If only one stream is affected, report that example; if several streams and other apps struggle, investigate the device and network too. Change one setting at a time so you know what helped. Do not assume a more expensive broadband package will fix every playback issue.
Send support a useful description
Include your device model, player, connection type, approximate time and whether the problem affects one or several streams. Describe any visible resolution indicator without sharing your password or full playlist URL. These details make a support conversation more useful than simply reporting “4K does not work”.
